Packaging registration in Germany and Austria
Selling directly to consumers requires packaging registration in both countries, via a representative without a local entity.
Germany
- Register in the LUCID Packaging Register before the first sale, join a dual system and report volumes regularly.
- Foreign sellers without a German branch shipping directly to consumers need an authorised representative.
Austria
- Since 2023, foreign distance sellers to consumers must appoint an authorised representative established in Austria, who takes over reporting and obligations.
LUCID already applies the producer definition of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
Legal basis: VerpackG (DE) · Verpackungsverordnung (AT) · PPWR
